Our artworks in 2010 are the creation of textile artist Marina Lindsay who has won a number of major Australian textile awards in felt art, quilting and craft. A successful solo exhibition at the Washhouse Gallery, Sydney in 2005 was themed around water and foliage. During 2009, Marina featured at 3 major Australian Textile Shows, demonstrating fibre techniques for Bernina Australia. During 2010 Marina will be teaching at the Australian Textile Art Festival in Brisbane. This Festival will feature some of her finished works including entries in ' The Art of Recycling'.   Marina ’s current works for Oreti House continue the land and sea themes  and she presents a world of complex and colourful subjects.  Created from fine wool fibres, mohair, angora and silk, the artworks are reminiscent of watercolour paintings – alluring, luminescent and unique for Oreti House. Perfect for the home, beach house or winter hideaway and equally a part of the Australian forest and bush, the rich textures evoke feelings of calm and serenity in any room. The felting process whilst more typical of ancient communities in China and Scandinavia is not widely practiced nor commonly seen made up as artworks. Marina brings her Russian heritage to the fore, where fibre was an important part of life for warmth and decoration. Marina can be contacted via the Oreti House website for commissioned works.
